>Silvio Muccino Will Show Italy (And Hopefully One Day The Rest Of Us) Another World

>

Next week a new film starring and directed by the super good looking Silvio Muccino opens in theaters around Italy. I’m telling you, this kid’s got a bright future; he’s the brother of Gabriele Muccino (director of  7 Pounds, The Pursuit of Happyness, and L’ultimo Bacio) so although he’s a great leading man, directing is in his blood. On December 22 Italians can see him do both in Un Altro Mondo (another world), what appears to be a beautiful movie about a shallow young man finding that there is more to him than he knew.

He plays Andrea, rich and superficial, who gets a letter from his long lost father telling him that he is in Africa, dying, and wants to see him. He goes, and finds that he has an eight year old African half brother (played by Michael Rainey) and the experience changes his life.

Isabella Ragonese, (Camilla in Dieci Inverni and  Rosa Napolitano in Nuovomondo ) plays Andrea’s love interest, a volunteer working in Kenya.

Why am I telling you this, those of you outside Italy? Maybe because most of the Italian movies I know are about Italians in Italy and this one seems different. Or maybe (hopefully) because this one looks good enough to make it out of Italy. Or maybe just because I love posting cute pictures of Silvio Muccino. Whatever – keep your eye out for Un Altro Mondo, another world, or whatever crazy thing they decide to call it in the US.
