The poster for “Manuale d’Amore 3” is everywhere, mocking me – it’s starting the a week after I leave Italy. In an interview in Ciak magazine, Marco Giovannini, the article’s author settled the argument about Robert De Niro’s fluency in the Italian language. He writes that De Niro will act in Italian, but when he tried to interview him in Italian he “in a gentle but firm manner” returned to English. Giovannini says that when he asked De Niro to continue in Italian he said,” Allora mi vuoi male?” (then do you want me badly?) and says that De Niro speaks “perfect Italian-American like a gangster in ‘Analyze This”.
I keep saying I’m never going home – maybe I’ll stay another week just to see Manuale d’Amore 3.
