Even More Reasons to Love Italian Film from 2010

Even More Reasons to Love Italian Film from 2010

My list continues! Here are four more that they’ll be looking at soon as they consider the David di Donatello awards.

La Nostra Vita

LA NOSTRA VITA – Stars Elio Germano, Raoul Bova, and Isabella Ragonese and tells the story of a working class guy whose world is rocked by a sudden tragedy. Everything he knows and everything he believes about himself changes and his world becomes a little broader when he makes some unlikely friends. It’s available on DVD in Italy,  I have it, and I liked it. I think this one might have a chance.

La Solitudine Dei Numeri Primi

LA SOLITUDINE DEI NUMERI PRIMI – Starring Alba Rohrwacher (I am Love) it’s about two lonely people for whom traumatic incidents during childhood make it difficult to connect with other people. (I have it but I haven’t see it yet – it’s available on DVD in Italy).

Le Quattro Volte

LE QUATTRO VOLTE – Here’s another that I hadn’t heard of,and that’s a little embarrassing since it won a Nastro D’Argento award. It’s the story of an old shepherd who lives his last days in a quiet medieval village perched high on the hills of Calabria, at the southernmost tip of Italy. He herds goats under skies that most villagers have deserted long ago. He is sick, and believes to find his medicine in the dust he collects on the church floor, which he drinks in his water every day. It isn’t yet available on DVD.

LE STELLE INQUIETE – How can this be? Here’s another one I didn’t know about! It’s the based on the life of French philosopher Simone Weil and the reviews were really good. It isn’t yet available on DVD. list continues. Here’s the next five that will be considered for the Italian academy awards, the David di Donatellos. And guess what; this isn’t even the end of the list!
