More Potential Award Winners!

Noi Credevamo

Even I am stunned by the amount of Italian films from 2010. Not all of them will be considered, but one never knows! I am sad to say that I will leave “Manuale D’amore 3 (with Robert Di Nero) off the list. I haven’t seen it but the reports just haven’t been good. And Maschi Contro Femmine – I don’t know about that one. It seemed like Italians really liked it but it just doesn’t seem like award material to me so I’m leaving that one off too.

NOI CREDEVAMO – Michele Riondino won the Guglielmo Biraghi Award at Venice for this movie and the rest of the cast is star studded, with Luigi Lo Cascio, Toni Servillo, and Francesca Inaudi, to name a few. It’s the epic story of Italy’s unification and I have not watched it but plan to soon (I have it), so I’ll let you know.

Qualunquemente

QUALUNQUEMENTE – I really disliked this movie but it has been pointed out to me that – that’s the point! You are supposed to dislike Cetto la Qualunque. It’s Italian political satire using the fictitious Cetto to skewer the Berlusconi government. It got a standing ovation at the Berlin Film Festival so I think this is one to watch. Read my Review – “Good News for the Cast of the Jersey Shore”.

VALLANZASCA GLI ANGELI DEL MALE – Kim Rossi Stuart stars in this biography of Milanese bank robber Renato Vallanzasca and this one got good reviews.

Tomorrow I’ll break this down and choose what I think will be the top 6 – when we get closer to award time I’ll be offering a prize for a contest – if you didn’t do well on Oscar predictions, try your hand at David di Donatello award predictions!
