Paolo Virzi’s “La Prima Cosa Bella” – “The First Beautiful Thing” opens tonight at the Angelika Film Center in New York City and while I’m happy to see an Italian movie playing in the states I wish it were something else. The First Beautiful thing is not my favorite, but apparently it was an Italian favorite because this was Italy’s submission for to the American Oscars. If you love Italian movies you should see it, but I just have to say it again – this is not the best that Italy has to offer.
