For Best Actress – The David di Donatello Awards

The best actress category – I’m not going to lie – is going to be extra hard for me to call. I left Italy the day before “Il Gioiellino” opened in the theaters, and it’s not yet available on DVD. And I’d never even heard of “Nessuno mi può Giudicare” and I still don’t know very much about it.

So this one will be truly a guess for me and I would be grateful for the insight of those who have seen all the movies.

Another problem – as much as I love Isabella Ragonese and Angela Finnocchiaro those roles did not seem like leading lady roles. Neither of them were really in the biggest part of the movies, and I’m surprised they were nominated.

So by process of elimination, I’ll guess that Alba Rohrbacher will win for “La solitudine dei numeri primi” , but I’ll add that I wish Angela Finocchiaro would win for Benvenuti al sud.

So, will in: Alba

Should win: Angela.
