I’m watching Giorgio Diritti’s “L’uomo che verrà” and all I can say is this: thank God for subtitles. This movie is not yet available in the United States or with English subtitles, but if I didn’t have the Italian subtitles I wouldn’t understand a word because the dialect is so predominant.
It’s 1943 in a small town in central Italy and the Nazis are making life miserable for the poor Italians. Shown from the perspective of a little girl who has gone mute after a tragic event, it’s the story of the famous Marzabotto massacre.
So far I’m loving it – I’ll tell you more tomorrow.
