I Love Italian Everything

I’d like to thank Charles, a reader and frequent contributor of useful information, for reporting some new releases from Amazon.com. I was starting to think that Baarìa,  Le Quattro Volte, and Vallanzasca – Gli Angeli del Male  (Angel of Evil) would never be released here, like it had been rumored that they would – but we have dates: Baarìa  (10/18),  LeQuattro Volte,  (9/13), Angel of Evil (9/27).

I’d have been more excited with different choices, like La Doppia Ora (The Double Hour), but I’ll take what I can get and hope for others later. Baarìa is a beautiful but way too sentimental autobiographical film from Giuseppe Tornatore who also gave us the popular Cinema Paradiso. ( Baaria is Sicilian slang for Bagheria where Tornatore was born). I yawned my way through it and compared it to a Barilla Pasta ad, but lots of people loved it so…what do I know?

I’ll write more about the other two later, but I have to catch a plane, so for now,take a look at the Baarìa trailer – it’s pretty!
