Tanti Auguri Luigi Lo Cascio! Happy Birthday!

So far, you have eluded me, Luigi. When I am in your neighborhood in Rome I have my eyes permanently peeled for you – I am your American stalker.

Don’t worry, I’d just like a picture with you and to tell you how much I admire your work. You are, officially, il mio preferito – my favorite, and I’d like to wish you I very happy birthday.

Born in Palermo on October 20, 1967, he came from “a happy family with 5 kids and a grandmother that lived with them”. He was always the shortest in his classes in school, even shorter than the girls. I’m sure even still, he was always the cutest.

He came from a family of doctors and thought of becoming a psychiatrist like his uncle, but went into acting instead, and has starred in some of my favorite movies.

From imdb.com , his films:

Salvo (pre-production)
2011    Romanzo di una strage (post-production)
Giudice Paolillo
2010   Noi credevamo
Domenico
Noi credevamo, we believed,  won best film at the David di Donatello awards and you can find my review HERE.
2009   Baarìa
Beggard’s son
Available now in the US from Netflix and Amazon, read about it HERE.
2009   The Friends at the Margherita Cafe
Manuelo
2008   Miracle at St. Anna

2004   Eyes of Crystal
Ispettore Amaldi
I didn’t love this one.
2003   My Brother-In-Law
Vito Quaranta
Mio Cognato, My Brother-in-law, would do very well in the US. I loved it – it’s a funny but also tragic buddy film about two guys trying to find a stolen car. Take a look.
2003   Good Morning, Night
Mariano
Marco Bellocchio’s Buongiorno Notte, Good morning, night, is a powerful movie about the kidnapping of Aldo Moro and it won at the Venice Film Festival and best picture at the David di Donatello awards. Read what I wrote HERE.
2003   The Best of Youth
Nicola Carati
The amazing La meglio gioventù, the best of youth, was originally a TV mini-series and is 6 hours long, but don’t let that scare you. It’s worth your time.
2002   The Best Day of My Life
Claudio
2001  Light of My Eyes
Antonio
Luigi won a best actor award at the Venice Film festival for his role as the lonely limo driver in Luce dei miei occhi, Light of my eyes. Read my review HERE.
