Live Chat With Fabio Volo

I’ve just participated in my first MYmovies.com Live Chat and it was fun, but telling you all about it won’t be very interesting.

First, it was supposed to be with Fabio Volo and Isabella Ragonese, and I am not quite sure why Isabella never showed. My internet connection is HORRIBLE (I’m switching from this backwater Windstream to Cable first thing this week!). I lost the connection every other minute – literally – and with my quite imperfect Italian it was a little hard to follow. Fabio talked about his new movie – Un Giorno in Più ( an extra day), based on a novel that he wrote in 2007. It’s about a guy that, day after day, watches a woman that he becomes infatuated with on the tram and tries to get the courage to speak to her.

Here’s what I think Fabio said about it:

When asked where he got the idea for the book (and the movie based on the book) I’m pretty sure he said it was from his mother – constantly asking him when he was going to settle down, get married, and have children.

When asked if anything similar to the story had happened to him, he said that he “falls in love” with women he sees only briefly all the time and that he loves those little interactions when you exchange glances and smile at each other but never speak.

When asked what movies he liked he talked about how much he loved Sean Penn in Paolo Sorrentino’s This Must Be The Place (English language film opening in the US on December 12) and that his favorite is Woody Allen.

Of the title, he said that he is always thinking about what might be different if things happened a day before, or a day later – what would change.

That’s all I got – sorry! He talked about how much he liked working with Isabella (and where was she???) and about how important it is to work with people you like. I tried to ask a questions about US distribution but it was ignored – meglio così.

I need to try another Live Chat with better internet connection – and all of you who speak Italian should do it next time. I’ll let you know if anything interesting comes up!
