I can’t wait to see how Riccardo Scamarcio does, speaking English, in Ash Baron-Cohen’s (Sasha’s cousin) The Blind Bastard Club, due out in 2012. The filming begins in February in Brazil, and stars Scamarcio, Rosario Dawson, Rodgrigo Santoro and Lenny Kravitz – but where’s Mickey Rourke? Earlier reports listed Rourke in the cast and now his name is gone, so I hope that doesn’t mean that the movie is going to blow and Rourke wanted out.
The movie is about a group of blind people, the BBC (Blind Bastard Club), blind people who like to do stuff that blind people probably shouldn’t – go to the shooting range, jump out of planes, get into bar fights, and in general pretend they’re not blind.
I know that America will love Scamarcio – I just hope he picked the right movie to let Americans see how cute he is. The better opportunity may be when we see him in Woody Allen’s Nero Fiddled, also due out in 2012.
