Coming to the US on March 2, 2012 – The Salt of Life

I love, love, love this movie! I saw it last winter in Rome, and I had been hoping that this one, in particular, made it to US theaters.

From Gianni Di Gregorio, who was one of the writers for Gomorrah and directed, wrote, and starred in Mid August Lunch (Pranzo di Ferragosto), it’s about a guy who retires and develops a bit of an identity cirisis. When his buddy suggests he take a mistress (everybody in the senior citizen set is doing it) he decides to give it a try, but it’s not as easy as it looks.

It’s smart, funny, and at the same time bittersweet, and it was very under-appreciated in Italy.
