Can you believe I flew to New York for a movie? A movie that I’ve already seen in Rome? A movie that I already own on DVD?
To be fair, my daughter lives here and I’m not just here for Gianni Di Gregorio’s The Salt of Life (although I would come here for you, Gianni.) But I’ve bought 10 tickets and I’m treating my daughter, her boyfriend, and some of their friends to cinema italiano. They’ll be given a task – I hope they realize that there are strings attached to the free movie ticket.
I’ll be asking them for their opinions about this Italian comedy, the one that I’ve raved about over and again here. I’d like it compared to American comedies. In 1000 words or less. Double spaced and typed. Due tomorrow by 10:00 AM.
The New York Times liked it: Reviewer Stephen Holden said, ” This movie is a richer variation of his small, exquisite 2010 film, “Mid-August Lunch.” ( You can read the entire review HERE. )
I’ll be at the IFC tonight – and I’ll be the one giving it a standing ovation. I already know I like it.
