Here comes the next batch – day 3 of the Italian movies that will be considered for David di Donatello Awards.
IL VILLAGGIO DI CARTONE (Cardboard village) – This one opened at Venice last year. A church is closed down by the Vatican and the dismantled alter becomes a home to homeless people.
IMMATURI, IL VIAGGIO (Immature the trip) – Who knows? The first movie, Immaturi was nominated (to my great surprise) for a couple of awards. In this sequel, the group of friends finally graduate (for real) from high school and decide to take a little vacation to celebrate.
★IO SONO LI (I am Li) – Shun Li works in a textile factory in the outskirts of Rome in order to get her papers and enable her eight-year-old son to come to Italy.
L’ERA LEGALE (The legal era) – Isabella Rossellini plays herself in this mockumentary about Naples becoming the safest city on the planet.
L’EREDE (The heir) – The return of giallo from Michele Zampino – After the death of his father, Bruno comes into possession of a run-down house in the countryside. This inheritance, however, will prove to be a curse.
L’ESTATE DI GIACOMO (Giacomo’s summer)- In this documentary, Giacomo is a deaf boy who is about to have surgery that will let him hear.
L’INDUSTRIALE (The Entrepreneur) – A drama about Italy’s financial crisis with Pierfrancesco Favino.
★L’ULTIMO TERRESTRE (The Last Earthling) – Award winning sci-fi – A solitary man on the last week on the earth before the landing of an extraterrestrial society.
★LA KRYPTONITE NELLA BORSA (Kryptonite in the purse) – Valeria Golino stars in this story about a boy who thinks his dead cousin is Superman.
LA MISURA DEL CONFINE (The measure of the border) – A mystery investigagion involving a mummified body in the mountains between the Italian and Swiss border.
LA PEGGIOR SETTIMANA DELLA MIA VITA (The Worst Week of my Life) – forgettable romantic comedy.
LA SCOMPARSA DI PATO’ (The disappearance of Patò) – A comedy with a giallo (Italian mystery) twist about old time Sicily.
★LA-BAS – EDUCAZIONE CRIMINALE (Criminal education) – One reviewer said ” Là-bas gives voice to black Italians”.
LEZIONI DI CIOCCOLATO 2 (Chocolate Kisses) – Sequel to Lezioni di Cioccolato.
★MAGNIFICA PRESENZA (Magnificant Presence) Ferzan Ozpetek’s new movie with Elio Germano and Margherita Buy.
