Here it is: the end of the list. For the past few days I have done my best to tell you just a little about the films that could be considered for the David di Donatello Awards. Remember, there will be a contest on this site – so start watching!
RUGGINE (Rust) – I’m not giving this one a star because I don’t want to, not because I don’t think it might be nominated. I couldn’t recommend this poorly told story of pedophilia in the 70s.
★SCIALLA! (Slap!) – A comedy that depicts the relationship between a melancholy professor and a rebellious teenager. This one won the Controcampo Prize at the Venice Film Festival.
SE SEI COSI’ TI DICO SI’ (if that’s how you are I say yes) – A washed up pop singer from the 80s gets a job as a waiter in his wife’s restaurant.
SECONDO TEMPO (second time) – a documentary about violence in soccer.
SENZA ARTE NE’ PARTE (Make a fake) – Art dealers and reproducing famous art, it stars Giuseppe Battiston and Donatella Finocchiaro.
SETTE OPERE DI MISERICORDIA (Seven acts of mercy) – Two people, a young Romanian illegal and an older Italian man realize that “the possibility of human contact can change their lives forever”.

SILVIO FOREVER – Documentary of Silvio Berlusconi directed by Roberto Faenza and Filippo Macelloni.
SOTTO IL VESTITO NIENTE (nothing under the dress) – Bad comedy about sex, drugs and rock and roll.
★SULLA STRADA DI CASA ( On the way home) – This story about an honest man who gets mixed up with some bad people looks really intense. It stars Donatella Finocchiaro.
★TATANKA – Clemente Russo portrays himself in the story of a promising boxer who grew up in the Neapolitan mob heartland.
★TERRAFERMA – This one won at at Venice and could clean up at the David di Donatello awards. It’s the story of fishermen on the island of Lampadusa dealing with the boat people who are washing up on their shores. Directed by Emanuele Crialese and starring Donatella Finocchiaro.
★THIS MUST BE THE PLACE – Paolo Sorrentino’s English language film starring Sean Penn and Frances McDormand about a aging rock star who goes on a Nazi hunt.
TI STIMO FRATELLO (I respect you brother) – Giovanni’s tranquil existence gets upended by the arrival of Jonny, a party animal.
TORMENTI – FILM DISEGNATO DA FURIO SCARPELLI (Agony, a film animated by Furio Scarpelli) – Animation with voices of Alba Rohrwacher, Luca Zingaretti, and Valerio Mastandrea.
TUTTA COLPA DELLA MUSICA (All the music’s fault) – I saw this Ricky Tognazzi comedy at Venice and wish I hadn’t. With Stefania Sandrelli.
UN GIORNO QUESTO DOLORE TI SARA’ UTILE (One day this pain will be useful to you) – Roberto Faenza’s English language film based on the popular young adult book by the same name. I have a bad vibe about this one…
VACANZE DI NATALE A CORTINA (Christmas vacation at Cortina) – Bad, bad, bad, bad (are you keeping track of the bads?) cinepanettone.
