Here they are – the winners of the David di Donatello Awards 2012 and my predictions were far from perfect but I’m very pleased with the outcome. My evaluations will come in the next few days, but what do you think?
Best Film: Cesare Deve Morire (Caesar Must Die) – Not my pick but it’s a good one!
Best Director: The Taviani Brothers for Cesare Deve Morire (Caesar Must Die) – I got this one all wrong!
Best Screenwriting: Unberto Contarello and Paolo Sorrentino for This Must be the Place. I predicted this one!
Best Actress: Zhao Tao for Io Sono Lì and I really wanted Donatella Finocchiaro for this one!
Best Actor: Michel Piccoli for Habemus Papam – another correct guess for me.
Best Supporting Actor : Pierfrancesco Favino for Romanzo di una Strage. ( my pick!)
Best Supporting Actress: Michela Cescon for Romanzo di una Strage. (I’m 2 for 2 on the supporting awards!)
Best New Director: Francesco Bruni for Scialla. (I said that Alice Rohrwacher should win and that Stefano Sollima would win for ACAB – All Cops Are Bastards but those were bad choices. I should have known that Scialla would win.
Best Producer: Grazia Volpi for Cesare Deve Morire (Caesar Must Die).
Best Foreign Film: A Separation by Asghar Farhadi
Best Original Song: It falls, It falls from This Must be the Place.
