Blogs Worth Mentioning

You should really brush off your Italian or use a translator and check out what the Italian bloggers are saying about their movies.

Take a look at the movie blogs I’ve been following.

The Emerald Forest – cinema e altre malattieis – (cinema and other sicknesses) is an awesome movie blog that I can’t get enough of with a great review of Scialla! ( Francesco Bruni won the David di Donatello for best new director ) –  from today’s post: Scialla! (termine che in romano è un sorta di filosofia di vita e significa più o meno “prendi la vita con più tranquillità”) è un’ottima commedia, per nulla pretenziosa, al contrario semplice e intelligente al tempo stesso.”  Scialla! (A Roman expression that is a sort of philosophy of life and means more or less, “take it easy”) is a great comedy, not at all pretentious, on the contrary it’s simple and intelligent at the same time.)

The Emerald Forest is written in Italian by an Italian but while you’ve got the translator out there’s another blog I’ve been loving:

Sunset Boulevard – Un Luogo, un’ispirazione (A Place. An Inspiration), a well written movie blog that covers not just Italian movies, but of course that’s what I’m most interested. Blog director Antonio Falcones just written about To Rome With Love, and I won’t ruin it for you, but just to give you an idea how this Italian feels about Woody Allen’s tribute to Rome, Falcone writes that:  è un gran brutto film, la cui unica valenza stilistica è rappresentata da un’abissale inconsistenza. (“It’s a really terrible film that’s only stylistic content is an abysmal flimsiness”. – ouch, Woody!)

For lovers of the English language there’s Chino Kino, a very clever blog from Canadian  David Eng. David does a really good job of keeping us informed of awards and film festivals.
