I’m Getting Ready For Open Roads: New Italian Cinema 2012

I’ll watch Magnifica Presenza with Ferzan Ozpetek!

I can’t stop looking at my itinerary for the almost too good to be true Open Roads: New Italian Cinema Film Festival in NYC from June 8-14 and organized by the Film Society of Lincoln Center together with Istituto Luce-Cinecittà – Filmitalia.

I’m aware of the glazed over expression that my husband, Brian, daughter, Lauren, and her boyfriend, Justin, get when I talk about it and know that I am probably bringing it up too much. But I can’t help it! I’m going to watch Magnifica Presenza with Ferzan Ozpetek and Elio Germano!

For the entire lineup click herebut take a look at my plans below and let me know if you’ll be there!

June 8, Friday, I have tickets to 2 movies, the 6:15 Magnifica Presenza (hurray!) and

Elio Germano and Ferzan Ozpetek

Diaz: Don’t Clean Up This Blood. I haven’t decided for sure but I might blow off Diaz in the interest of compromise. Brian, Lauren, and Justin are going to Magnifica Presenza with me and want to go to dinner afterwards and contrary to popular opinion, I can be reasonable. And I can, because…

…I have 3 movies the next day, Saturday June 9. I’ll be at the 12:30 PM screening of Io Sono Li (Shun Li and the Poet), the 3:00 Il Mio Domani (My

Io Sono Li

Tomorrow), and at, 7:30 Scialla! (Easy!).

I’m excited about Io Sono Li because Chinese actress Tao Zhao won the David di Donatello Award for best actress for this movie, and the director, Andrea Segre will be at the screening. Director Francesco Bruni will be there in person for the screening of Easy! and at My Tomorrow, I’ll get the chance to see director Marina Spalda.

Sunday I’ll see Escort in Love ( Nessuno Mi Può Giudicare ) at noon,  even though I’ve already seen it – but Raol Bova‘s going to be there! At 2:30 there’s Seven Acts of Mercy (Sette Opere di Misericordia ), with directors Gianluca and Massimliano De Serio in person, and then at 5:00 another big deal: Carlo Verdone’s A Flat For Three (Posti in Piedi in Paradiso), with Pierfrancesco Favino and Marco Giallini in person!

Pierfrancesco Favino and Marco Giallini

I’ll see just one on Monday, Kryptonite! (Kryptonite Nella Borsa), and I’ve watched this one at home a couple of times already, but I’m looking forward to seeing it with director Ivan Cotroneo.

This is me:

So say hello if you see me!
