The Good News And The Bad News About Paolo Virzì’s New Project

Paolo Virzì

SO, I WAS JUST HOPING FOR MORE THRILLERS FROM ITALIAN MOVIE MAKERS?

Thanks to AF, one of our readers and an Italian movie expert, I found out the good news and the bad news about Paolo Virzì’s new project, inspired by the American thriller, Human Capital. Money rules the lives and controls the fates of the characters in this book written by Stephen Amidon. The film’s screenplay was written last year with Francesco Bruni (Scialla!) and Francesco Piccoli (Habemus Papam) who both worked on Virzì’s La Prima Cosa Bella.

The bad news, and a big WTH: “I would have liked to make the film with Medusa, but they dropped the film, along with ones made by Tornatore and Ozpetek. It seems they are looking more for projects like I Soliti Idioti”, said Virzì.

Read why I’ve begged everyone not to see I Soliti Idioti

So instead, the film will be produced by Virzì’s own Motorino Amaranto with Rai Cinema, so at least the project’s not dead. (The good news.)
