I’m feeling bad for Sergio Castellitto today, an actor/director for which I have great respect. True, I hated his 2010 movie La Bellezza del Somaro (Love and Slaps), but his Non Ti Muovere (Don’t Move) and all of his brilliant acting credits more that make up for it.
When Yahoo! Cinema Italia gave the public a chance to submit questions to Castellitto for an upcoming interview, the results were surprising.
I asked a couple of questions about distribution and about whether or not Italian movies have changed in the past few years as a result of Hollywood influence. Of the 15 other (so far) questions, half are either rude or inflammatory. Or both.
- Marco asked “if there’s a stink under his nose” ( translation: he’s stuck up).
- Joe asked if he could give Castellitto the raspberry.
- An unidentified guy asked why Castellitto’s wife ( author Margaret Mazzantini ) is such a tight ass.
- Leody asked Sergio: Who are you?
- Regina wanted to know why Castellitto chose Emile Hirsch for the part of Diego instead of an Italian actor.
- Mario asks why Castellitto has become so boring.
- A bunch of people want to know why Castellitto gave all of his kids the middle name “Contento” or “Contenta” (happy).
Here in America given the chance to “talk” to a movie star would result in lots of gratuitous compliments and ass-kissing. I guess you Italians aren’t as star struck!
If you’d like to ask a (legitimate) question, you still can. For those of you who don’t speak Italian, leave one in English. I’m sure there’s someone around there to translate.
