Thanks to James Imrie, a reader, who sent me a message about the fun new movie in competition at the Rome Film Festival. For those of you who can’t get enough of the old 60s and 70s giallo films, Pappi Corsicato’s campy new horror film, Il Volto di un Altro (The Face of Another) sounds just what you’ve been waiting for.
Laura Chiatti plays Bella, a TV host on a show about plastic surgery and her husband, played by Alessandro Preziosi is a doctor who operates on patients live on the show. When Bella’s in a car accident, her face is disfigured and the doctor goes to work on her.
“I wrote the screenplay with an older woman in mind,” said Corsicato, “and then I thought a young and beautiful woman who wants to change her physique would be more amusing. Alessandro Preziosi is the perfect doctor: I wanted him to be even more beautiful than his patients.”
Produced by Tilde Corsi and Gianni Romoli in collaboration with Rai Cinema, Il Volto di un Altro will be in Italian theaters in February 2013.
Take a look at the trailer – it’s got me intrigued.
