The portable region free players cost a little more but they are nice to have. My little 7″ Coby slides easily into my carry-on and entertains me on that long flight from Newark to Rome. It’s 95.99 at Amazon.com.
3. Amazon Prime is the best present that you could give anyone, but for an Italian movie lover it is gold. For $79 a year you get free, 2 day shipping on DVDs and you can watch a big variety of Italian movies instantly.

7. If you want to spend some serious money, do it in New York City in June, giving your Italian movie-lover the best Italian film festival ever, Open Roads: New Italian Cinema. This past year I met Ferzan Ozpetek, and got to screen movies with him, Paola Cortellesi, and other Italian directors and actors. The dates haven’t been announced for 2013, but stay tuned to I Love Italian Movies and I’ll let you know. A great way to find a good deal on a hotel is through hotels.com. With it’s easy search options you can find great rates and for every 10 nights you get one free. Customer service is great and has gotten me out of hot water on more than one occasion.
