I’ll Be In Rome Just In Time For Tarantino’s Big Award

I’m leaving soon for my yearly January movie trip to Rome – I hope to see a movie every day – and the day I arrive Quentin Tarantino’s Django Unchained will have its European premiere there. Sounds like a stalking opportunity for me!

On Jan. 4 Tarantino will be get a lifetime achievement from the Rome Film Festival, presented by legendary composer Ennio Morricone, who created one of the Django Unchained tracks.. They decided on Rome because of Sergio Corbucci’s 1966 Spaghetti Western Django from which Tarantino drew inspiration for “Unchained.”

The gala first screening will have in attendance Tarantino, Jamie Foxx, Christoph Walz and Kerry Washington along with the star of the original Django, Franco Nero. Note to self: find the location of this party.

I’m not a big Tarantino fan and I have never really forgiven him for making a mockery of the  Venice Film Festival when he was jury president in 2009 and gave the awards to all of his friends. He said that he loved the Italian movies of the 60s and 70s but that the ones today are all the same and that it’s a tragedy.

Whatever. I’d still love to get a look at Franco Nero and Ennio Morricone. And if you are watching a news report of the gala and see a blond lady holding a sign that says,

Hey, Tarantino, Chi *** Se Ne Frega,

that would be me.ma+chi+se+ne+frega
