Happy birthday to the singer/composer that Italians love, hate, or just love to hate, Vasco Rossi. I like him for the song, Un Senso, that he wrote and performed for the ending of one of my favorite movies, Non Ti Muovere (Don’t Move).
If you’ve never seen Non Ti Muovere; why the heck not? Directed by Sergio Castellitto and based on a book written by his wife, Margaret Mazzantini, it’s got one of the best and bravest roles of Penelope Cruz’s career, playing Italia, the broken and fragile prostitute.
With other fine performances by Claudia Gerini, Angela Finocchiaro, and Marco Giallini, this is most certainly Castellito’s best performance ever and one of the best Italian movies of the last ten years.
Watch closely and you’ll see Margaret Mazzantini walking opposite Sergio Castellito in the video, the last scene of Non Ti Muovere.
Domani un altro giorno arriverà.
