Homeland producer Henry Bromell’s directing a new movie due out sometime this year called Fellini Black and White, a fictional story about Federico Fellini going missing for 48 hours on his first trip to the US. This one’s got him hooking up with an American veterinarian and you know I’ll want to see it, but you know what I’d rather see?
Dear Italian Directors.
Your mafia movies, sentimental semi-autobiographical movies about your hometowns, and Cinepanettone are great, really, just great, but enough already. People say that Fellini and De Sica’s films made a “golden era” for film? Then tell us about them, and that “Dolce Vita” era, that extremely cool era with all the sexy Mad Men clothes and the Mina music.

Cast your extremely good-looking actors in the roles of Marcello Mastroianni, Sophia Loren, and Monica Vitti. Put Margareth Madè in a little black dress and find a vintage suit with a narrow black tie for Riccardo Scamarcio and then hand everybody a cigarette, sunglasses, a cocktail, and a Vespa.
We LOVE that shit.
This has got to be the most underexplored and yet fascinating movie subject on the planet, so Italian directors, get your retro on and MAKE THIS MOVIE!
