This is an exciting opportunity for those of you in and around London.

The third edition of London’s Italian Film Festival – Cinema Made in Italy opened Wednesday with Magnifica Presenza by Ferzan Ozpetek. The festival is being organized by the Istituto italiano di cultura di Londra, London’s Italian Culture Institute, which brings the best of recent Italian productions to British shores. The event, which will run until March 10, will screen ten films in their British premiere.

Projections following Ozpetek’s film (currently working on his next feature film, entitled Allacciate le cinture di sicurezza, with filming starting in May) will include Pinocchio by Enzo d’Alò (selected for the Cartoon Movie Tributes which will be given out on March 8 in Lyon), Every Blessed Day by Paolo Virzì, Romanzo di una strage by Marco Tullio Giordana, Piazza Fontana: the Italian Conspiracy  by Luigi Lo Cascio, Bellas Mariposas by Salvatore Mereu, Alì Blue Eyes by Claudio Giovannesi (selected in competition for the upcoming Tribeca Film Festival), Padroni di casa by Edoardo Gabriellini, Gli equilibristi by Ivano De Matteo and Nina by Elisa Fuksas.

It is a good moment for Italian cinema in the UK where the festival is running at the same time as the release of Caesar Must Die  by the Taviani brother and just a few days before the release of Reality  by Matteo Garrone later on this March.
