Sorrentino and ‘La Grande Bellezza’ Are Going To Cannes

It’s Official: Paolo Sorrentino’s ‘The Great Beauty’, ‘La Grande Bellezza’ starring Toni Servillo will be in competition at the Cannes Film Festival. This will be the fifth time that Sorrentino has brought a film to Cannes.

“I thank the festival for inviting me and for the attention with which it follows my work since my debut as a director”, said Sorrentino after finding out that his was the only Italian film to be selected.”To be selected among the best films is a great honor.”

“To go for the fifth time is a responsibility and an honor that I share with the whole company. Passionate men and women that have allowed me to transform this film and it’s been a dream come true for me”, concluded the director of ‘Il Divo’ and ‘This Must Be The Place’.

Valeria Golino will represent Italy with her film ‘Miele’, but out of competition in the section Un Certain Regard at this year’s festival running May 15-26.
