It won’t win any awards, critics savaged it and its lack of success depressed the hell out of director Gabriele Muccino (it was released in America on perhaps the least movie attended weekend of the year), but hey, it’s got Gerard Butler and his super cute Scottish accent.

Playing For Keeps is a silly English language romantic comedy starring Butler and Jessica Biel that I did not hate ( Read my review ), and reading what other critics have said about it makes me wonder why they are so fiercely defensive and protective of the soccer moms that Muccino pokes fun at. I mean, have they ever been around soccer moms? 1) I think that most soccer moms are tough enough to handle themselves and a little ribbing about their stereotypes and 2) stereotypes sometimes develop for natural reasons and maybe shouldn’t be automatically dismissed…I’m just saying.
