Let’s take a look at the directors and their films nominated , the winners TBA June 6, for the Nastro d’Argento for best director.
Today, Giuseppe Tornatore’s La Migliore Offerta.
I saw La Migliore Offerta, The Best Offer, on its opening day in Rome and it opened big, by Italian standards, earning almost 2 million euro the first weekend.
It’s an English language movie starring Geoffrey Rush and the location of the story is intentionally vague; it all happens somewhere in Europe and its a thriller with a storybook and old world feel.

The soundtrack was done by Ennio Morricone, an Italian composer, orchestrator and conductor, who has written music for more than 500 films including The Good, The Bad, and the Ugly, and Once Upon A Time In The West.
La Migliore Offerta has already won big at the Italian academy awards, the David di Donatello Awards: Best Film, Best Director, Best Music, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and the David of the Youth, a special award that is voted on by young people.
The Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists have nominate this movie for five Silver Ribbons (Nastri d’argento) including Best Cinematography, Best Director, Best Producer and Best Screenplay.
In bocca al lupo tutti!
