Coming To Netflix: Matteo Garrone’s ‘Reality’

Coming In August To Netflix! Cannes Film Festival Grand Prix Winner ‘Reality’!

If you liked Matteo Garrone’s immensely successful Gomorrah, you’ll want to visit Netflix right now and save a copy of his more recent ‘Reality. They couldn’t be more different and I can’t say for sure that if you loved the first you’ll love the second as well, but it’s a remarkable movie and worth a look.

Reality is the story of fun-loving family man Luciano who gets talked into trying out for the Italian version of the reality show ‘Big Brother’ and becomes obsessed with being chosen. Aniello Arena, who plays Luciano and clearly steals the show is a story in himself.  Serving a life sentence in prison and he was only able to appear in ‘Reality’ through a work release program, but he may be the single biggest cinema surprise in years. Nominated for a Golden Globe and a David di Donatello Award, he’s currently waiting to hear if he’s to be named Best Actor by the Italian National Syndicate of Film Journalists (the Nastro d’Argento Awards will be announced July 8) and he came very close to be named Best Actor at Cannes where ‘Reality’ won the Grand Prix.

Thanks to Mary Sue Lyons for telling us about this new addition to Netflix: It’s one of the most important in years!
