“As I’ve been saying in the past weeks, I believe that we must invest in film and television. Cinecittà must rediscover its role in production, post-production, and editing”, declared the city of Rome’s mayor, Ignazio Marino. “I believe that be must also invest in the Rome’s brand”, he added, “recognizable all over the world.”
“It’s not just because I’m the mayor of the capital, but because when people talk about movie making, they talk about Hollywood and Cinecittà. Nobody talks about where they are making movies in France or in Germany. It’s a paradox that in the capital they make less movies than in other cities in Italy. I believe that it’s also important that the city takes responsibility for simplifying the use of our city for those who want to make films, cutting the bureaucracy that stifles requests and makes them too long and complicated.”
Marino is an Italian transplant surgeon turned politician and has worked in hospitals in Pittsburg and Philadelphia.
