Paola Cortellesi Fans Rejoice! She’s Getting A Big Award At Venice. and I’ll be there!
It’s called “Il Cariddi” (it means “whirlpool”, and Paola certainly is that), and it’s from the Sindacato Nazionale Critici Cinematografici Italiani (National Association of Italian Cinema Critics) that was created by a collaboration with the Venice Film Festival and the Taormina Film Festival. It’s given to “an actor, filmmaker, or cinema professional of international cinema whose career represents a particularly significant or prestigious path in contemporary film.”
Paola is the star of stage and screen (big and little), and is just as funny as she is beautiful. I love everything she’s ever done, but my sentimental favorite is her role as Claudia, the center of everyone’s attention in Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo’s Tu La Conosci Claudia. I think I’ve watched it a couple dozen times, and the best scene: Relaxomatic.
