Happy Birthday Micaela Ramazzotti

Being called “the new Italian diva”, Micaela Ramazzotti has an old school glamour that Italy hasn’t seen since the 70s and she had the good fortune to marry one of biggest directors in Italy today, Paolo Virzì. He put her in the award winning La Prima Cosa Bella (The First Beautiful Thing), the film submitted to the Oscars a few years ago, and her career took off.

When asked if she’s Virzì’s Pygmalion, she says, “Sure, he taught me everything”.

Does she compare herself to Sophia Loren? (After all, Sophia Loren had her Carlo Ponti.) She’d rather be compared to Silvana Mangano.

Does she have a future in films outside of Italy? Maybe, but right now she’s got little kids.

Well, you’re 35 and we probably wouldn’t be talking about you if you hadn’t married a famous director. So don’t get your hopes up. But happy birthday!
