Happy Birthday Anna Bonaiuto

The reigning queen of today’s Neapolitan old school actresses, if Anna Bonaiuto’s name isn’t familiar to you, her face just might be. One of the more prolific actresses in Italy today, at 64 she’s still going strong and she remains convincing and intense on stage and on-screen.

Originally from Napoli, she’s been in dozens of films since her debut in 1972, and won 8 awards including the Golden Globe and Nastro d’Argento for Best Actress in 1995 for L’Amore Molesto, a shared Nastro d’Argento for her work on Noi Credevamo, and the Venice Film Festival’s Volpi Cup, the award for Best Actress, for her role in Dove siete? Io Sono Qui in 1993.

I’ve enjoyed her in so many films including MIo Fratello è Figlio Unico (My Brother is an Only Child) and La Ragazza del Lago (The Girl by the Lake), but my favorite is her role in Paolo Sorrentino’s ‘Il Divo’.

Auguri Anna!
