Carlo Verdone Here I Come

We have a joke in English that I think Carlo Verdone might want to remember it when I arrive at Indiana University today for the New Trends in Modern and Contemporary Italian Cinema Symposium , so I’ll try to translate it:

MeCi Vediamo presto! Carlo – Non se ti vedo prima! (See you soon! Not if I see you first!)

An excellent stalking opportunity has arisen for me; four days of lectures and panel discussions about Italian cinema, Carlo Verdone movies every day, and Carlo Verdone there himself to talk about them.

Is someone pranking me? This seems to good to be true. Will I drive six hours only to hear a secretary in the department of French and Italian laugh and say, “Gotcha!”

Anyway, Carlo, watch out ( stai attento) because a crazy old blond lady that loves Italian movies is going to want her picture with you.

And readers of this blog, state attenti: you are going to hear a lot about Carlo Verdone this week.
