Good news for Italian film lovers! Valeria Bruni Tedeschi was honored at the Tribeca Film Festival for best actress in Paolo Virzì’s Il Capitale Umano.

Paolo Virzì’s thriller, Based on Stephen Amidon’s novel, has been sold to 30 countries including the US (THANK YOU Film Movement).

The Hollywood Reporter Says: Not just a chic thriller, but an engrossing study of Italian society and a downward-spiralling economy.

From Variety – A slick, stylish drama, “Human Capital” starts as a class critique wrapped around a whodunit, and though the mystery elements have overtaken the social assessment by the final third, the pic remains an engrossing, stinging look at aspirational parvenus and the super-rich they emulate. Perfectly cast with actors who give life to very recognizable Italian types, “Capital” confirms Paolo Virzi as one of the more dynamic directors on the peninsula, blending biting commentary with expert narrational skills.

And in awarding Bruni Tedeschi the best actress award, the jury said: With her elegant depiction of a woman and mother that lives with a profound conflict, this actress was able to outline a complex interpretation of a woman who struggles with love, family, and duty. The actress has outlined both the strength and the fragility of this character without shame or fear, with subtlety and balance.
