It’s Friday and I just want to listen to music!
1) Paolo Sorrentino’s ‘La Grande Bellezza’ has a lot of fun party music; remember ‘Far L’Amore’?
2) ACAB (All Cops Are Bastards) has a great opening scene featuring the White Stripes ‘Seven Nation Army’.
3) Pane e Tulipani’s (Bread and Tulips) soundtrack is crazy fun. Here’s Don Backy singing Frasi d’Amore.
4) Paolo Virzì’s brother Carlo Virzì is a super talented musician who does the soundtracks for his films, but Il Più Grandi di Tutti was directed by Carlo. This is a film about a sort of “one hit wonder” band and features great music like Vado Al Mare by Pluto.
5) In Mine Vaganti, Nina Zilli’s ‘500 Mila’ is great dance music for Riccardo Scamarcio.
6) Director Ivan Cotroneo writes for the Italian Rolling Stone and loves good music, so it’s no surprise that his movie, Kryptonite Nella Borsa (Kryptonite!) kicked ass. Two great choices: ‘These Boots Are Made For Walking’ done by Planet Funk:

7) Daniele Luchetti’s ‘Dillo Con Parole Mie’ (Ginger and Cinnamon) used Mina’s “Taratata” in a fun way:
8) La Prima Cosa Bella was directed by Paolo Virzi, but his brother Carlo did the soundtrack.
9) Paolo Sorrentino not only named his movie This Must Be The Place after a Talking Heads song, but he got David Byrne to do the soundtrack, and even had him perform the title song in the movie.
10) In Bernardo Bertolucci’s ‘Io E Te’, he used a version of a David Bowie song that you may not have known existed. He changed the lyrics to Space Oddity to completely different Italian ones, and changed the title to Ragazzo Solo, Ragazza Sola (Lonely Boy, Lonely Girl).
