They are coming up soon, the Italian Academy Awards; the David di Donatello Awards ceremony is set for June 10th and four special awards were announced yesterday (and forgive my translations; I did the best I could):
To Sophia Loren – “For her splendid interpretation of the Human Voice, directed by her son Eduardo Ponti from Jean Cocteau’s celebrated text”.

To Carlo Mazzacurati – “For his poetic interpretation of Veneto, that he has seen growing and producing”.

To Marco Bellocchio – “For his long and always celebrated career as a director and screenwriter.”

And to Andrea Occhipinti, who with his Lucky Red “has written the most happy pages in Italian film distribution history,of a cinema respectful to the best cultural requests.”
