Italian film director Pier Paolo Pasolini’s mysterious death is the subject of a new movie from director Abel Ferrara, who tries to solve the mystery.
Pasolini is not an “Italian film”, but it’s of great interest to Italian film lovers for several reasons: It’s about one of Italy’s finest directors, it was made in Italy, it stars one of my favorite Italian actors, Riccardo Scamarcio, and it will make it’s debut at Venice. Willem Dafoe will play Pasolini.
Pasolini died in 1975 after being run over several times by his own car and though police at first arrested a male prostitute (played by Scamarcio), the charges against him were dropped. The case was reopened in 2005 with new evidence that involved an extortion scheme.
Pasolini is famous for films like Mamma Roma and The Decameron.
