After a messy lawsuit and other delays, we’ll finally get to see Riccardo Scamarcio in Emma Thompson’s period piece, Effie Gray. The film will be released in the UK next month and the US soon after.
Emma Thompson first original screenplay was put on ice for years when Gregory Murphy took her to court, saying that it infringed on his similarly themed play. With the lawsuit out of the way, the film, starring Scamarcio, Claudia Cardinale, Dakota Fanning, and Thompson, and Thompson’s husband, Greg Wise will finally see the light of day.
Filmed in Venice, it looks beautiful.
