Ivano De Matteo’s ‘I Nostri Ragazzi’ Coming To America In 2015!

If you liked book, you’ll love the movie.

Film Movement has picked up North American rights to Ivano De Matteo’s I Nostri Ragazzi (The Dinner) in Rome this week. Based on the best-selling novel by Dutch author Herman Koch, it was awarded Best European Film award in the Venice Days competition at this year’s Venice Film Festival.

I Nostri Ragazzi stars my favorite Luigi Lo Cascio Giovanna Mezzogiorno, Barbora Bobulova, and Alessandro Gassman and it’s about two brothers, more for appearance sake than anything else, get together with wives that hate each other for a monthly dinner, it’s not fun for anybody but it’s just something one does. The monotony of the family tradition might have continued forever had it not been for something their kids got involved in, something worse than anyone could have expected.

The Hollywood Reporter called the film “impressive … the way in which the film keeps suggesting new gray areas and adds shading through dialogue exchanges is remarkable and sustained throughout.”

“Ivano de Matteo has made a tremendous adaptation of the controversial best-selling book. He has created, together with his wonderful cast, a tense look at the relationships among parents and children, and the morality of contemporary middle-class society,” said Rosenberg. “This film will spark conversations between filmgoers, and we look forward to bringing it to North American audiences, including the many fans of Herman Koch’s book.”
