Six months of tax credits for the film industry have paid off; Italy seems to have reclaimed some ground in international film production and is attracting blockbusters. Cinecittà remakes of Ben Hur and James Bond are in the works thanks to investments of 150 million euro from major American studios like Paramount and Metro Goldwyn Mayer.

Ben Hur – The 2016 remake of the 1959 11 time Oscar winner will be made on a huge set being constructed at Cinecittà. The script will come from Ridley Scott and the director, Timur Bekmambetov. John Huston will play Ben Hur.
A new James Bond 007 is in its last phase of development, is being produced by Metro Goldwyn Mayer and directed by Sam Mendes. Daniel Craig will of course, play Bond, James Bond.
Christ the Lord – From a book by Anne Rice, Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt will be out in 2016.
Voice From The Stone, based on the Italian novel La Voce Della Pietra, is a psychological thriller produced by Zanuck Independent and directed by Eric D. Howell. It will star Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones and Dom Hemingway. It will be filmed between Tuscany and Cinecittà.
Zoolander 2, the sequel, in the preproduction phase, will be produced by Paramount and star Ben Stiller.
