Nick Hornby’s ‘Slam’ Goes Italian

DIrector Andrea Moliaoli becomes the next Italian director to adapt an English language novel; Nick Hornby’s novel Slam is becoming an Italian Movie.

Based on Hornby’s story about teen pregnancy, the film will be called Tutto Per Una Ragazza (Everything for a girl), the movie version will be set in modern-day Rome. As in the book, the main character is Samuele Sam), a sixteen year old boy who loves skateboarding. Samuele spends his days with his friends on his skateboard, with an imaginary friendship with his hero, Tony Hawk, an American professional skateboarder.Slam_Nick_Hornby

Samuele wants to go to college, travel, and maybe one day live in California, but above all, be the first in his family to avoid the fate of becoming a parent at 16, like his mom and his grandmother, but escaping his destiny will prove difficult.

The screenplay will be written by Francesco Bruni, a co-writer for ‘Human Capital’, Ludovica Rampoldi and Molaioli, who directed The Jewel, and The Girl By The Lake, starring Toni Servillo. Filming will begin in the spring.
