DIrector Andrea Moliaoli becomes the next Italian director to adapt an English language novel; Nick Hornby’s novel Slam is becoming an Italian Movie.
Based on Hornby’s story about teen pregnancy, the film will be called Tutto Per Una Ragazza (Everything for a girl), the movie version will be set in modern-day Rome. As in the book, the main character is Samuele Sam), a sixteen year old boy who loves skateboarding. Samuele spends his days with his friends on his skateboard, with an imaginary friendship with his hero, Tony Hawk, an American professional skateboarder.
Samuele wants to go to college, travel, and maybe one day live in California, but above all, be the first in his family to avoid the fate of becoming a parent at 16, like his mom and his grandmother, but escaping his destiny will prove difficult.
The screenplay will be written by Francesco Bruni, a co-writer for ‘Human Capital’, Ludovica Rampoldi and Molaioli, who directed The Jewel, and The Girl By The Lake, starring Toni Servillo. Filming will begin in the spring.
