The 6th Annual Film Symposium On New Trends In Modern And Contemporary Italian Film

This year I’m jumping into “aqua fredda” and presenting my talk: The Golden Age Of Italian Cinema is Before Us, Not Behind Us.

I’m here at Indiana University in beautiful Bloomington, Indiana. (What a beautiful campus, but I haven’t yet found a decent glass of Italian wine to save my life.) Here, the department of French and Italian hosts a yearly symposium, fascinating, especially the talks on the contemporary films.

The 2015 symposium is dedicated to the director Francesco Rosi, one of the “great masters of Italian cinema.” Rosi was actually supposed to be here in person, but sadly died last year, so his memory will be honored by those who knew him, and the screenings of his films.

And tomorrow morning, I will be either enchanting or annoying the mostly academic audience with my take on contemporary Italian cinema. A preview? Let’s just say I’ll be calling Fellini “a little silly.”
