This one looks CRAZY fun.
The Tale of Tales, Il Racconto Dei Racconti from Matteo Garrone is an English language film with an international cast and a highly anticipated Cannes debut.
Starring Salma Hayek, Vincent Cassel, Toby Jones, John C. Reilly, and Alba Rohrwacher it was filmed in secret locations all around Italy, in castles, secret gardens, and ancient villages.
The film’s story is inspired by the fairy tales of Giambattista Basile, a 17th century storyteller from Naples, author of the earliest versions of many folktales later retold by Charles Perrault in France in the 17th century and the Grimm Brothers in Germany.
The Tale of Tales is one of three Italian films that will be in competition for the Palme d’Or this year at the Cannes Film Festival. The other two, Nanni Moretti’s ‘Mia Madre’, and Paolo Sorrentino’s La Giovinezza.
