5 Reasons To Love Rocco Papaleo
Reason #1
Papaleo wrote, directed and starred in his new movie, Onda Su Onda (Wave Upon Wave), also starring Alessandro Gassman. Papaleo has become a prolific auteur not as well-known in the USA but extremely popular in Italy.

Reason #2
He’s in high demand as an actor as well by other directors, like Daniele Ciprì. La Buca, is an urban fairytale of a greedy curmudgeon, (Oscar, the unscrupulous lawyer played by Sergio Castellitto), a lovely, kind, and mistreated fairy-godmother (Carmen, the barista, played by Valeria Bruni Tedeschi), and usurped prince (Armando, an ex-con, played by Papaleo), in a whimsical cartoon land full of anachronisms and charm.

Reason #3
In Luca Miniero’s Un Boss In Salotto “Dead” Zio Ciro (Papaleo) shows up in handcuffs and accused of being a Mafia boss, in need of someplace to stay until his hearing. His long-lost sister Cristina, played by Paola Cortellesi is at first steadfast in her desire to separate herself from her “delinquent” brother, but softens when she’s told that if she doesn’t take him in he’ll go to prison.
In the first five minutes of finding out that her uncle is alive, Cristina’s daughter tells him, “No wonder Mom told us you were dead.”

In Basilicata Coast to coast, Papaleo’s directorial debut, “the journey is the reward” when four musicians, one of them Papaleo, decide to go on foot to a music festival, crossing Basilicata from one coast to another with only a wagon and horse to carry their equipment.
