Ciak Magazine and editor Piera Detassis (@PieraDetassis) have published their 2015 Power List and I am not on it.

Checco Zalone didn’t make a movie this year so in the #1 spot, Alessandro Siani. His comedy Si Accettano Miracoli made 15 and a half million euro and I’m not going to lie, I haven’t watched it yet (but I guess I’ll have to now.) His previous film, Il Principe Abusivo was not horrible; in fact, that’s what I titled my review. Il Principe Abusive: It’s Not Horrible. I don’t get why this guy is so very successful, but then again I don’t get why anyone goes to see an Adam Sandler movie either.
The rest of the top 10:
#2 Paolo Sorrentino, of course.

#3 Mario Martone, who did so well with Un Giovane Favoloso starring Elio Germano.

#4 Checco Zalone, the biggest box office draw in Italian cinema history.

#5 Ficcara and Picone, a comedy team that once again, I don’t get.

#6 Elio Germano, an actor that deserves every possible accolade.

#7 Aldo, Giovanni and Giacomo, a comedy trio that is a sentimental favorite of mine but pretty silly and slapstick.

#8 Christian De Sica. Say what? Um, OK. I guess cinepanettone is more popular than I realized.

#9 Alessandro Gassman, is the son of Vittorio, but is making his own name in films like I Nostri Ragazzi, Il Nome Del Figlio, and Se Dio Vuole.

#10 Luca Miniero, the director of Benvenuti al Sud’s films have been much weaker ever since (like La Scuola Più Bella Del Mondo); never-the-less he’s in the top 10!

Notice all the testosterone on this list? There are only 6 women in the top 50 and 4 are producers, 2 actresses, Paola Cortellesi and Margherita Buy. A big congratulations to Olivia Musini (producer of Anime Nere) for making the list.
