Paolo Sorrentino’s muse, unbelievably believable as Italian prime minister Giulio Andreotti in Il Divo is no divo at all, and that’s according to everybody.
Italy’s finest is 57 today.

He lives with his wife and kids in the city of his birth, gives relatively few interviews (is mystified by why actors are out there giving opinions about politics and sports), and the adjective that everyone uses for him: simple.
WATCH LA GRANDE BELLEZZA (THE GREAT BEAUTY)

When I spoke with Roberto Andò, who directed him in Viva La Libertà, if the star of the academy award winning The Great Beauty I asked how Servillo was handling his celebrity status.
Is he getting a big head?” I asked
As it turns out, he is not. He and Andò are great friends and had been looking for a project to do together for a while. According to Andò, Toni is a simple man who has become a “messenger for Italy.”
“It was obvious even when I was writing the book that it would have to be him (Servillo) and that this gave him the drive to make the film.”

So wish Servillo tanti auguri and watch one of his films today. There are plenty of good ones.
