Marco Bellocchio At Cannes 2016? Paolo Virzì? Roberto Andò?

Ci sono voci…Rumor has it…

Three films are being mentioned for the 2016 Cannes Film Festival:

Berenice Bejo
Berenice Bejo will star in Bellocchio’s ‘Sweet Dreams’

Marco Bellocchio’s Fai Bei Sogni (Sweet Dreams), stars Berenice Bejo (The Artist), Valerio Mastandrea, Fabrizio Gifuni, Guido Caprino and Barbara Ronchi. Cinematography is by the master, Daniele Ciprì. The film is about the loss of a mother and the secrets that come from that loss.

Valeria Bruni Tedeschi and Micaela Ramazzotti in La Pazza Gioia
Valeria Bruni Tedeschi and Micaela Ramazzotti in La Pazza Gioia

Paolo Virzì’s newest features two big stars who play mental patients on the loose. Beatrice Morandini Valdirana (Valeria Bruni Tedeschi) is a big talking and (so she says) countess who claims to be on a first name basis with the rich and famous. Donatella Morelli (Micaela Ramazzotti) is fragile, quiet, and keeping a painful secret.

Both are being held in custody, patients in a women’s mental institution where an unlikely but wacky and touching friendship is formed.

Cinematography by the amazing Vladan Radovic (Anime Nere).

Toni Servillo (Le Confessioni)
Toni Servillo (Le Confessioni)

I’ve been waiting patiently for Roberto Andò’s (Viva La Libertà) next film and apparently it’s a good one. Le Confessioni (The Confessions) stars Toni Servillo, Connie Nielsen, Marie-Josée Croze, Julian Ovenden, Lambert Wilson and Pierfrancesco Favino and is set in Germany in a luxury hotel and the scene is G8 summit with talks of a secret plot that will have grave consequences in many countries.
