Taodue’s Pietro Valsecchi announced a new film from Checco Zalone’s in the works and due out late 2017, but will we ever get it here in the US?
The end of 2017 release of the latest chapter in the life of the comic from Bari will be go head to head with a new Star Wars release in Italian theaters, but Valecchi’s not worried, “Checco’s a Star War”, he said, smiling.
That will make film number 5 for Checco, AKA Luca Medici and his pal/director Gennaro Nunziante, and yet most Americans don’t know or care about this galactic battle because they haven’t been given the chance to know Checco. He’s the biggest box office success in the history of Italian cinema, and his last 3 films made more than any other Italian film including Roberto Benigni’s La Vita è Bella.
I’ve seen them all, and I’m here to tell you that they are irreverent, a little low brow, definitely not PC, but ridiculously funny.

Will the appearance of Checco Zalone at Canada’s ICFF signal US distribution for his films? Will Americans take to Checco? How should I know? But give us the chance to find out.
WE WANT CHECCO IN THE USA!
